Boating trip to Glendo Reservoir, Wyoming

Category : Uncategorized

Recent weekend trip to Glendo Reservoir, Wyoming.  Decent sized reservoir with plenty of camping options along the shoreline.  Everything from wakeboard boats, to fishing boats, to sailboats.  Here is Doug showing us the way:

We had a campsite in the ‘mangroves’, which was pretty much just flooded trees:

The Reservoir is dammed, producing electricity for the surrounding area.  Here is the view from the dam:

Plenty of nooks and coves for great waterskiing or wakeboarding, protected from wind and waves:

With a new truck, pulling the Mastercraft around the West is no problem:

Sage Outdoor Adventures

Recently we took a trip to Sage Outdoor Adventures located outside of Wolcott, Colorado. With 6,000 acres and 100 miles of trails, the private ranch provides an amazing backdrop for snowmobiling. Considering the size of the ranch, there were lots of different terrain features – powder meadows, ridgelines, dense forests, and scenic overlooks:

Here is a map our ride, covering about 20 miles.  As you can tell, there is a huge variety of terrain:

Vail Pass Snowmobiling

Category : Uncategorized

Please thank Ullr for the recent snowfall! Yesterday’s storm was a welcome respite from the dry conditions around Colorado. We were fortunate to be out snowmobiling while the snow pounded the Vail Valley.

Here is Fritz at the beginning of the day:

We explored the Vail Pass area, starting at Red Cliff. With the help of two Yamaha snowmobiles, we were able to check out a few different areas within only a few miles of Red Cliff or Vail Pass Rest Stop (off of I-70).

It was a good reminder of how conditions can vary while in the backcountry. Always be prepared for anything!

Winter ’14-’15

Category : Uncategorized

Welcome to Mission Backcountry.  Operated by Dane Voboril, the goal of Winter 2014-2015 is to facilitate outdoor adventures for my friends.  Recovering from multiple knee surgeries, I am unable to ski this winter – for those that know me understand this is a significant issue.  Instead of sitting on the couch, I am motivated to help my friends enjoy the snow covered mountains.

During the ’14-’15 winter, I will be organizing a variety of trips and adventures:

  • Single day or multi-day options
  • Choose your destination from suggested locations in Colorado
  • Choose your transportation option: either human or machine powered
  • Delivery + operator add-ons available

If you are interested in an adventure, please don’t hesitate to reach out: dane@missionbackcountry.com or (770) 778-3497
